On October 28, 2020 afternoon, the School of Foreign Languages held a workshop on “Improving the effectiveness of classroom- observing practice of English Language Teacher Education and French Language Teacher Education Departments” at 7B Hall.
The participants present at the workshop were Ms. Dong Anh Dao - the Vice Principal of Bui Huu Nghia High School, Ms. Dinh Kim Oanh - an English teacher of Bui Huu Nghia High School, and Ms. Phan Thi Giao Linh - a French teacher of Bui Huu Nghia High School, in Can Tho city.
From the School of Foreign Languages, there were representatives of Executive Board and departments of English Teaching Methodology, and French Teaching Methodology, as well as lecturers and students in course 44 of English Language Teacher Education and French Language Teacher Education.
The aim of the workshop was to evaluate the current situations of classroom-observation in some high schools, to discuss feasible solutions, and to propose realistic ones to improving the quality of classroom-observation. Thereby, it was likely to enhance the training quality of foreign language teachers in the Mekong Delta, and also to lift the cooperative spirit between the School of Foreign Languages, high schools, and other departments of education and training in the Mekong Delta.
The workshop program contained two reports, namely “The reviews of classroom-observation in high schools and experience in training students” presented by Ms. Dong Anh Dao - Vice Principle of Bui Huu Nghia High School and “Guidelines for professional classroom-observation”, presented by Ms. Dinh Kim Oanh - an English teacher, and Ms. Phan Thi Giao Linh - a French teacher of Bui Huu Nghia High School. Besides, there were exchanges in experience, advice, and techniques on classroom-observation between lecturers and students.
In a nutshell, the workshop made a significant contribution to improving the quality of classroom-observation for students.
