ORIENTATION MEETING FOR FIRST-YEAR STUDENTS OF ENGLISH STUDIES

On October 30, 2022, the School of Foreign Languages (SFL) held a welcome meeting to first-year students of Cohort 48, majoring in English Language and English Translation & Interpreting.

The meeting had the participation of the Vice Deans of SFL, the Head of the Department of English Language & Culture, representatives of the SFL’s Administration office, academic advisors of those classes, Ms. Nguyen Ngo Linh Phung - former student majoring in English Language, representatives of the Youth Union of SFL, and all tudents majoring in English Studies Cohort 48.

At the beginning of the program, Mr. Diep Kien Vu, Vice Dean of the School of Foreign Languages, gave a welcome speech to the first-year students and introduced the organizational structure of the School. Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Thanh introduced the functions and contacts of the Administration office as well as shared notices for new students to get familiar with life at the university. Ms. Luu Bich Ngoc, Deputy Head of Department of English Language and Culture talked about the English Language major, oriented students in studying at university level and how to plan their studies at university. Ms. Nguyen Ngo Linh Phung shared experiences with the view of an alumnus, and activities students can participate in to improve soft skills and future career skills. Following was the introduction of the representative of SFL’s Youth Union about activities and projects that are organized by the Youth Union. Additionally, new students had the chance to meet their academic advisors and ask questions. Ms. Phuong Hoang Yen, Vice Dean of SFL - Head of Department of English Language & Culture, also welcomed new students of the English language programs and answered questions from students attending the program.
